Size Matters
I love writing about size. I mean who wouldn’t? We get to be so judgemental this way but in like a cute flirty way… Size may or may not matter to you in the bedroom. But I am going to have to ask you to get your mind out of the gutter, because I meant with your flat iron.
May or may not matter, you ask?
And my answer to that is yes.
It may matter to you if you care about your hair, yourself, and your styling abilities. But if you don’t care about any of those things (I know you still care about yourself, but the other two things…) well then by all means continue to the next section. IF those three lovely things do matter to you, then let me explain why size matters. Size is going to matter when staring down your barrel of a flat iron.
Sizes
If you get a small flat iron and have very long and thick hair then it is going to take you forever to straighten and style your hair. Not to mention the arms you will have when you are done from constantly lifting the flat iron up to flatten out tiny pieces of your hair. On the other hand, feel free to purchase a tiny flat iron for flyaways and baby hairs. Or if you have short hair.
Continuing with size matters, large flat irons are not okay for short hair. You are either going to burn the $#*! out of yourself or you are going to burn your hair off. On the bright side, you will be done fairly quickly. As far as styling goes, you are going to get very large loose curls with this straightener. If that is your objective, then by all means this one is your calling.
Then there is just your average straightener. He does the trick almost always.

Make and Model
Expensive or cheap? That is the real question… But I am not referring to the flat iron. I am referring to you. I know the flat iron’s price and quality, it is whether or not you are going to blow all your money or save your money. So which is it? Blow or save? Because you can get the same quality for cheap sometimes, and then there are other times where you blow all your money and it is completely worth it. Depending on what flat iron you are holding in your hands right now will tell you whether or not it is worth it. Most times you can get a cheap flat iron that is better quality than the expensive one. It’ll still come with all the bells and whistles of flat irons, just at a cheaper price.
There are a lot of companies that think they can up their prices because they are a big fancy name brand. The exact same quality will exist in Walgreens or Walmart though.. Or even on Amazon.

What’s Your Hair Type?
When it comes to hair types it is important to note whether or not your hair is going to be able to handle high amounts of heat or if it is going to get completed burned off. We have all seen those videos where the young girls have a curling iron that is too hot… and then all her hair gets “cut” off. I mean it burned right through. Your hair is not invincible. It is a sweet and delicate part of your body. I mean it is already dead, so it can’t be that strong. The commercials where they tie a giant note in the girl’s hair and pull to show how strong their hair is, yeah, your hair is not much stronger than a pull. 450 degrees fahrenheit is going to burn right through that.
Don’t forget that if your hair is blonde, you can turn it brown by burning it as well. The Simpson’s showed an episode once of Marge burning her hair when she was trying to flatten it and it went from blue to brown. I understand that that is a cartoon BUT it can happen to you.
Knowing your hair type is key to considering your flat iron and all of the options. If you have more fragile hair, consider getting a flat iron with a temperature gauge on it so you know if it is getting too hot.

Style Goals?
As our final part of the bells and whistles of flat irons, we present to you style! Knowing what kind of style of hair you would like from using your flat iron is essential. If you want big curls, tight curls, loose curls, straight curls, waves, pinpoint straight hair, volume… whatever it may be. Each flat iron has a different way of achieving that goal for you.
