This is a fantastic deal, one where even if this flat iron lasts you for a year, it’s a great purchase! However, the downside is that on Amazon, the straightener received less than 50 percent of 5-star ratings and much fewer 4-star ratings.
Moreover, you’re not eligible for a warranty buying the flat iron on Amazon.com. Check your local beauty salon or Beauty Store for purchasing this item with a warranty and probably for a larger price point. Warranty on the Slim450 Titanium
Izutech products such as this Izunami KTX Slim450 Titanium Flat Iron hold “a one year hassle-free warranty period from the date of the original purchase” but the warranty is only good within the U.S. As well, all “customers must have a receipt or an invoice from the original vendor” where they purchased the flat iron. This receipt or invoice must identify “the purchase date” of the straightener for “verification.”
As well, the warranty is for 1-year and a Slim450 Titanium Flat Iron that has been “exchanged” no longer holds the original 1-year warranty after the exchange. Here’s the issue, if you buy the straightener for the fantastic price of $40.00 on Amazon.com, you’re not eligible for the 1-year warranty. That’s the cost of buying it for such an amazing price — no warranty.
If you buy it elsewhere, the 1-year warranty is still in effect except if the straightener has been “damaged due to misuse or physical abuse,” “tampering,” or purchased from an “auction site” such as Amazon or eBay. Also, the warranty is good from the exact date you purchased the flat iron, not the date you received the flat iron in the mail. International exchanges are subject to extra shipping fees as well.
Alterna Bamboo Products to Use with Your Slim450 Titanium Flat Iron

One of the best all around heat protection products I’ve used is the Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Breakage Protection Spray. It’s a great heat protectant for both men and women. It’s created with the brands “Kendi Thermal Protec[ion] Complex” and is “clinically proven” to stop hair breakage by at least “87 percent.” It works quickly to “repai[r]” and fortify your hair. It’s one of the best thermal protection sprays out there that also prevents hair-breakage available; especially, while using heated styling tools. The products should be applied to towel-dried hair before blow drying and using your fingers is best to mix the product in your hair.

Another excellent Alterna Bamboo product is their Alterna Bamboo Shine Silk-Sleek Brilliance Cream which is also a “unisex” hair product that contains “pure organic bamboo extract and shine-amplifying organic Indian gooseberry” to give your hair more flexibility and strength.
It’s also a “paraben-and sodium-chloride-free formula” and provides every hair on your head with “nourish[ment],” “moisture,” and “shine-enhancing vital nutrients.” It retains the color of colored-hair well and is eco-friendly (as all are Alterna Bamboo products). Moreover, it has no “sulfates, synthetic fragrances, phthalates, GMOs, and Triclosan.” To use this product apply a dime-sized amount to towel-dried hair with your fingers or put it in dry hair for shiny brilliance.
One last styling product I love in the Alterna Bamboo line is their Alterna Bamboo Volume Weightless Whipped Mousse. It’s light and fluffy and gives the right amount of volume to hair when you flat iron it, without causing your hair to become dead-flat. The hold of the mousse is “medium” for a “volumizing mousse” and is also made with “strengthening pure organic bamboo extract” along with “phyto-nutrient-rich organic Maca root.”
You can apply a small amount of mousse to your mane or build volume and “fullness” with the mousse with ‘lift’ from “root to tip.” Remember to apply a good-sized amount of product to your roots as those need volume most of all. As well, this mousse is never “crunchy” and is also eco-friendly.
Alterna Bamboo Abundant Shampoo & Conditioner
My favorite shampoo and conditioner (outside of Living Proof) for restoring heat damaged hair, is Alterna Bamboo Abundant Volume Shampoo & Conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner aren’t thick, but a little product goes a long way. Both products are made with “organic bamboo and Maca root” to “nourish” and condition your hair. The ‘organic bamboo and Maca root’ are “eco-certified,” “fair-trade” products, and “certified organic.”
The Abundant Volume Shampoo gives life to your hair with “gentle” and “lightweight moisture” that “invogart[es]” and thickens your hair with intense “body” and ‘lift.’ This shampoo also give you stronger and more “resilient” hair strands, leaving your hair soft and feeling light.
The Abundant Volume Conditioner is a “moisturizing” product, adding volume to your hair with “pure organic bamboo extract,” “stimulating phyto-nutrient[s]” and, “rich organic Maca root.” It’s ideal for color-treated hair, and I recommend leaving it in your hair for a few minutes to “energize” limp hair and give your hair downy-softness along with volume.
Both products are two of my absolute favorite for restoring hair damaged from heat styling products and remember when you purchase multiple Alterna Bamboo hair products on Amazon, you end up saving money.

The Stats
Out of a mere 42 customer reviews, 42 percent of buyers gave the Slim450 a review of 3.2 stars out of 5. These are average reviews, not very good compared to other straighteners, but remember how cheap you can buy this flat iron for. 12 percent of reviewers gave the straightener 4 stars; 5 percent gave only 3 stars; 7 percent gave 2 stars, and a surprising 28 percent of reviewers gave this flat iron 1-star. Many buyers said this was a horrible product and did not match the quality of Izunami straighteners they’d purchased in the past.
Good Reviews
Although there were few reviews to choose from one lady commented that this flat iron was indeed an “authentic Izutech flat iron.” She felt it was “better than a lot of other flat irons” she had tried before. Also, she noted that this “price is just amazing!” One other woman who rated the product highly said she’s “tried many straighteners and” is “always hesitant to get an expensive brand at a discount on Amazon;” however, she was very pleased” with this straightener. She noted her “hair is very curly, frizzy, fine, and thick and this” flat iron “does the trick.” She has become a fan of “Titanium” plates.
One other woman who rated the product highly said she’s “tried many straighteners and” is “always hesitant to get an expensive brand at a discount on Amazon;” however, she was very pleased” with this straightener. She noted her “hair is very curly, frizzy, fine, and thick and this” flat iron “does the trick.” She has become a fan of “Titanium” plates.
Bad Reviews
For this particular Slim450 Titanium flat iron, worse reviews were easier to come by. A woman commented that she “received this product” and did not believe it was “authentic!” She writes that “Izutech is made in Korea, but this product says it is made in China.” As well, she wrote that “the plates” on the flat iron did “not lay flat once they” were “closed.” And that the “the tip of the plates close[d] together while the rest” of the flat iron remained “separate unless held together really tightly.” She immediately returned it.
A common review seemed to be that the straightener was defective and would not even
“power up” in the first place. One lady said she “loved” her “last two Izutech Izunami irons, but these being sold for such a low price, obviously, had something wrong with it, as the plates didn’t line up and the power-on button did not work.
Final Thoughts
Although receiving a great bargain for a brand name flat iron such as the Izunami KXY Slim450 is always a tempting purchase and gives you a great feeling because you got a deal, this only works if the product you receive, turns on and works well. It needs not to be a FAKE, and for such a cheap price, this straightener makes me nervous. I looked at many other Izunami flat irons on Amazon, and most were around $100 or more, which is more in line for what most decent straighteners cost.
I’m not sure what to say about this because $40.00 is not lots of money to pay for a straightener so you’re not losing much if you risk buying the flat iron. However, if you buy it and it’s defective and you can’t get your money back or receive a new straightener and you’re still not satisfied with how it works, then I’m not sure even for $40.00 if this straightener is worth the price; especially, since on Amazon you are not eligible for the 1-year warranty.
I think, personally, I would skip this purchase and put the $40.00 towards a flat iron that will last longer. I’d want to buy a straightener that I have a much better idea that it will work well and is easy to return, with a longer warranty. But this one is up to you guys because even though it’s $40.00, I can think of many products on Amazon, such as Alterna Bamboo hair products, I’d rather spend the $40.00 as well. But what do you say?
